Lattice Suite › Compared with Microsoft 365
Lattice and Microsoft 365, compared fairly.
Microsoft's free web apps do far more than Lattice. Here is what each offers, what Lattice lacks, and who might still want to try it.
Free to start. No card needed.

Microsoft, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive and Microsoft 365 are trademarks of Microsoft Corporation. Lattice is not affiliated with either company.
The short version
Microsoft offers free web versions of Word, Excel and PowerPoint with a free Microsoft account, with a smaller set of features than its paid Microsoft 365 apps. Lattice is a different, smaller thing: one free account for documents, spreadsheets, slides, files and email, with no ads. If you work in Word and Excel files every day, Microsoft's tools will fit you better.
Side by side

Where Lattice falls short of Microsoft
- Lattice's editors use their own format. If you work with Word, Excel and PowerPoint files every day, check that your files will do what you need before you move.
- Far fewer features, and no add-on marketplace.
- No sharing and no editing with other people at the moment.
- No desktop apps.
Who should stay with Microsoft, and who might try Lattice
Stay if you share documents or exchange Office files with other people, use advanced spreadsheet features, or already pay for Microsoft 365.
Try Lattice if you want a simple, ad-free account for everyday documents, files and mail. You can keep your Microsoft account and run both.
Free, and what paying adds
The free plan includes 15 GB of storage for your documents, spreadsheets, slides and files. If you want more room, a paid plan includes 200 GB and costs $2.99 a month, or $29.99 for the year during our introductory offer (through January 20, 2027), plus any tax. Payments go through Stripe, who acts as the seller. You can cancel online, and the free account stays. See full pricing and the refund policy.
Questions
Is Lattice a free alternative to Word and Excel?
It is a smaller free alternative for everyday writing and spreadsheets, with no ads. It is not a full replacement for Office.
Can I move my Office files?
Not automatically today. Lattice keeps documents in its own format, so moving is mostly a matter of copying the content over. Sheets can import XLSX and CSV files, and Docs can import Markdown and text files, but Word and PowerPoint files cannot be imported. Try it with one file first.
