How your address works

  • It ends in @latticemail.com. You choose the part before the @ when you create your account. It has to be 4 to 30 characters, and we turn some names away, for example names that look like ours, like another person's or company's, or like an official address such as postmaster.
  • You cannot change it later. To use a different one, open a new account.
  • It is never reused. If your account is closed, we keep the name, with no link to you, so nobody else can ever receive mail meant for you. It is a licence to use the address while your account is open, not property: it cannot be sold or transferred.
  • You can sign in with it. Sign in to Lattice with either the email address you signed up with or your Lattice address; there is no separate mail password. Your Lattice address is never used to recover your account, so keep the email address you signed up with up to date.

Read and send your mail

  • In your browser. Open mail.latticesuite.io and sign in with your Lattice login. There is nothing to install.
  • In any mail program, over IMAP and SMTP. Create an app password in your account (you are asked to sign in again first), and the app shows the server settings to use with it. You can have up to eight app passwords and delete any of them whenever you like. Free and paid accounts can both do this.

Treat an app password like a password: anyone who has it can read and send your mail until you delete it. Your Lattice login does not work in a mail program, and an app password does not work to sign in to Lattice.

Sending limits, in plain words

You can send to anyone, including addresses outside Lattice, from your first day. While the service is new, a new account starts on a small allowance: 10 recipients outside Lattice in its first 24 hours, and 25 in the next 24 hours. After that your account moves to the limits of its plan. A message to ten people counts as ten. A message can be up to 25 MiB and can name up to 100 recipients, and a mailbox holds up to 5 GB on the free plan and 50 GB on Lattice Personal.

There is also a limit shared by everyone on the service, while our new mail domain builds a good reputation with other providers: at first 300 recipients a day across all accounts together. Now and then that means a message is refused with a temporary error such as "rate limit exceeded, try again later". When that happens the message is not kept, so send it again once the next hour has started (or after midnight UTC if it was the daily limit). It never affects receiving mail.

Your mail and your privacy

  • No ads, nothing used to train AI. We do not read your mail to show you ads or to train anything.
  • Not end-to-end encrypted. Mail is encrypted on its way to and from our servers, but our systems can read it so that they can deliver it and filter it for spam, malware and phishing. Do not use it for secrets.
  • People do not read it. Our staff do not read your mail in the ordinary course. They may look at the specific messages named in a report of abuse or a security incident, only as far as needed and with a record, or as the law requires.
  • Pictures from other servers are blocked by default, because loading one tells the sender you opened the message and when.

The details are on what we do with your data, in plain words.

If an account is held or closing

We can hold a mailbox that is being used to send spam or phishing, or that looks compromised. A held mailbox does not send mail and no mail program can sign in to it. Mail sent to a held or closing mailbox is not thrown away when it arrives: our mail system queues it or turns it away with a temporary error, so the sender's system tries again. If the mailbox is restored, queued mail is delivered as usual. If you think a hold is wrong, write to support@latticesuite.io and a person will review it.

Export and closing

Right now, getting a copy of your mail and closing your account are done by email. Write to privacy@latticesuite.io from the address on your account. When closing starts we stop delivering mail to your Lattice address, you can ask for a copy of your messages (a ZIP of .eml files that most mail programs can open), and we remove the mailbox within 30 days. Mail sent to the address after that is refused, and the name is never given to anyone else.

Where Mail is today

Lattice Mail is new, and its sending limits are deliberately small at first. It is for personal use, not for a business; Lattice Business is separate and not open for sign-up yet. It is open to people 18 and over in most countries; the Terms of Service list the few places we cannot serve.

Free, and what paying adds

Every Lattice account has a mailbox. The mailbox is 5 GB on the free plan and 50 GB on Lattice Personal, which also raises your sending limits; if a paid plan ends, the mailbox keeps 50 GB for 30 days. Separately, the free plan includes 15 GB of storage for your documents, spreadsheets, slides and files. If you want more room, a paid plan includes 200 GB and costs $2.99 a month, or $29.99 for the year during our introductory offer (through January 20, 2027), plus any tax. Payments go through Stripe, who acts as the seller. You can cancel online, and the free account stays. See full pricing and the refund policy.

Questions

Why might my mail land in spam at first?

A new mail domain has no track record with other providers, so some will put mail from it in spam until it has one. We sign every message and publish the records that show it came from us (SPF, DKIM and DMARC), and we keep sending volume low and growing steadily. If someone tells you your mail went to spam, ask them to mark it "not spam" and add your address to their contacts. Both help.

How do I mark a message as not spam?

In the mail program where you read it: move it from the spam or junk folder to your inbox, or use its "not spam" button. That teaches that program's filter about your own mail.

What is an app password?

A password we make for one mail program, so you never give a program your Lattice login. You can have up to eight and delete any of them at any time; deleting one stops that program at once.

Why are pictures in a message blocked?

Loading a picture from another server tells the sender you opened the message. We block them by default.

Can I sign in to Lattice with my Lattice address?

Yes. Either the email address you signed up with or your Lattice address works, with the same password. Account recovery and sign-in codes still go to the email address you signed up with, so keep it up to date.

Can I use it for my business?

Not on a personal account: no mailing lists, newsletters, support desks or sending on behalf of other people. Lattice Business is a separate product for organizations and is not open for sign-up yet.

Who can sign up?

Lattice Personal is open to people 18 and over in most countries. The Terms of Service list the few places we cannot serve.
